Liga Undercrown

Liga Undercrown

Liga Privada Undercrown is among the most popular cigars to come out of the Drew Estate factory to date. Following in the footsteps of the now world-famous No. 9 and T52, Undercrown can be considered part of the same family. In fact, if it weren't for its ultra-premium big brothers, Undercrown probably would have never come into existence. As the story goes according to Jonathan Drew, "In early 2009 we asked our torcedores to smoke less Liga Privada cigars because they were leaving too few to be exported… rather than being disgruntled they responded by blending their own signature liga(blend)." To do this, the folks at Drew Estate used many of the same rare tobaccos used in T52 and No. 9, but of different primings and vintages. Undercrown consists of a top shelf combination of Nicaraguan Cuban seed and Brazilian Mata Fina filler tobaccos, a T52 Connecticut River Valley stalk cut and cured Habano binder, and a rare San Andres Maduro wrapper known as Otapan Negro Ultimo Corte (Spanish for Last Cut Black Otapan). The end result went from a "throw-around" cigar enjoyed by rollers at the factory to a masterpiece that earned a spot on Cigar Aficionado's Top 25 in no time flat.
