While golden brown and velvety smooth in texture, Rocky Patel Decade Cameroon doesn't look like other Cameroon cigars, it's a darker, deeper shade of brown and virtually drips with oils. Perhaps Rocky is using a new kind of Cameroon that we don't know about? The guy is so dang secretive about everything, perhaps we'll never know. Back to the stogie in question, Decade Cameroon is about as finely constructed as it is blended, offering an easy draw and a tight ash all the way through the experience. Opening with the classic Decade notes of cedar and earth, Decade Cameroon offers readily apparent nutty, caramel, and light coffee flavors along the way, as well as a sweet floral finish, something common with Cameroon-wrapped cigars. Beginning in the mild range, Decade Cameroon gradually gains strength and finishes as medium-full, a few notches down from its original counterpart. Everything is simply "right" with this cigar. It's tied together from beginning to end as a wonderfully blended treat that should please any serious cigar fanatic.
The original Decade blend was intended for experienced smokers, and rightfully so. This Rocky Patel Decade Cameroon Toro cigar, however, opens the door to intermediate lightly-seasoned connoisseurs in training as well. It's easier on the palate, pleasantly flavorful, and very easy to smoke, residing exactly on the medium-full mark. Rocky Patel Decade Cameroon cigars pair well with white wine as well as scotch and makes a beautiful special occasion cigar, especially this chunky Toro size. Fans of the original Decade cigar will obviously want to try the RP Decade Cameroon, as well as those interested in other Cameroon classics such as Cohiba and Partagas. By now, we all know that Rocky Patel is one of the best in the business. It's always fun to find out what he's cooking up down in Nicaragua, and Decade Cameroon Toro is a welcomed addition to his ever-growing, star-studded portfolio.
