First of all, the cigar begins with the always flavorful, always luxurious Le Bijou 1922 recipe originally crafted by none other than Jose ‘Don Pepin’ Garcia. Comprised of the finest aged Nicaraguan longleaf, including a hefty portion of Garcia-grown Pelo de Oro, this filler blend could hardly be improved upon except for the masterful choice that was made to place an exquisite Ecuadorian Habano Oscuro as the wrapper to create this early contender for cigar of the year.
As is the rule for their Limited Edition releases, My Father has created this smoke in just one size: a hefty 6 ½ inch by 52 ring gauge stud of a stick. The Toro must be the Garcia family’s muse, because there seems to be no other cigar company that can match what My Father does with that particular vitola on a consistent basis year after year. Individually nestled into cozy cedar coffins, each fine smoke patiently awaits the flame before exploding into Le Bijou’s black pepper, oak, cream, and marzipan. The Oscuro wrapper adds an intense depth to the profile, full of cocoa and espresso and burnt sugar.
