Liga Privada No. 9 Toro is among the most coveted and sought-after maduro cigars on the market today. It is the sister cigar of the infamous T52 and has garnered much attention and numerous accolades since its inception years ago, including multiple 90+ ratings in Cigar Aficionado, a spot on numerous Top 25 lists, and recognition as one of the best cigars Jonathan Drew has ever taken credit for. Originally intended for use only in the private humidors of the head honchos at Drew Estate down in Nicaragua, No. 9 is an extraordinarily rich mash-up of some of the world’s finest tobaccos. This includes a top shelf mixture of Honduran and Nicaraguan fillers, a plantation grown Brazilian Mata Fina binder for added flavor, and a jet-black Connecticut Broadleaf Oscuro Ligero wrapper. Only a small handful of rollers at Drew Estate are certified to roll the Liga Privada series, so there is never a question regarding the quality of the end product.

Oozing with natural oils, dark and luxurious, and seamlessly rolled, Liga Privada No. 9 offers a firm pack with a gorgeous triple cap. The simple white band and Cuban style packaging add to the elegance of the experience. An easy, almost overly productive draw offers billowing clouds of dense, white smoke, bombarding the palate with spicy ligero goodness. The earthy core is complimented by chocolate, oak, and mocha, along with hints of toasty nuts developing throughout the experience. The full-bodied bouquet of unbelievable flavor concludes with a thick, sweet finish on the retrohale. Luxuriously creamy and rich, No. 9 is not for the faint of heart. No. 9 is available in a handful of classic sizes, along with a few new and unique vitolas thrown in, to offer a broad range of flavor intensity and smoking experience. The Toro is among the best sellers in the lineup, weighing in at 6” x 52 and offering luxurious full flavor and a great representation of the overall profile.

“Liga Privada” literally translates to “Private Blend,” as this cigar was intended to be smoked by extremely discriminating cigar industry giants. That being said, No. 9, like just about all non-flavored Drew Estate cigars, is meant for experienced smokers only. Very full-bodied, No. 9 pairs well with dark coffee, port wine, or cappuccino and is best after a meal. Similar sticks may include Oliva Serie V Maduro, Arturo Fuente Anejo, and other Drew Estate masterpieces such as the original T52 blend and Undercrown. Though it’s not talked about much and you may not see many advertisements telling you to smoke it, Liga Privada No. 9 truly is a cigar that flies off shelves and graces the humidors of a great many serious connoisseurs. Production is severely limited, so get your Liga Privada No. 9 Toro while you can, and experience one of the finest cigars ever to come out of the Drew Estate factory.
